Our Markets Custom Tempered Glass for Automotive and Industrial OEMs

Auto Temp, Inc. is a custom tempered glass manufacturer serving OEMs, aftermarket distributors and equipment builders in six core markets: automotive, construction and agriculture, recreational vehicles and marine, heavy-duty trucks, mass transit and appliances. At our ISO 9001:2015-certified facility in Batavia, Ohio, we make flat, bent and curved tempered glass to your exact specifications. It's glass that holds up in harsh environments, protects operators and passengers, gives clear optics and looks sharp on the finished product.

Industries Auto Temp serves

Auto Temp manufactures tempered glass for original equipment manufacturers across six markets:

  • Automotive, OEM and aftermarket
  • Heavy equipment and agriculture
  • Recreational and specialty vehicles
  • Commercial trucks
  • Mass transit
  • Appliance, commercial and residential

What connects them is not the vehicle, it is the problem. Each needs flat or curved tempered glass made to a drawing, in short runs, held to tight tolerance. A run of four hundred windshields for a forestry machine is the job Auto Temp is built for.

That shapes what the company carries:

  • Five tempering furnaces covering flat, cylindrical, compound and complex bends
  • In-house cutting, grinding, drilling, silkscreen printing and hardware assembly, so a part leaves finished rather than needing a second supplier
  • A warehouse holding finished inventory, which matters when an OEM needs service parts years after the production run ended

Appliance work sits alongside the vehicle markets for the same reason. Commercial and residential appliance glass is tempered to the same standards on the same equipment, and the specification discipline an automotive program demands carries across without modification.

It's glass that holds up in harsh environments, protects operators and passengers, gives clear optics and looks sharp on the finished product.

  • Forestry

  • Mining

Tempered Glass for Agricultural and Construction Equipment

Farm implements, earth moving equipment, forestry machines and mining vehicles share a glazing problem. The cab is the operator's only protection, the glass is often large and curved, and the machine lives outdoors in conditions that destroy anything specified loosely.

Auto Temp manufactures tempered glass for all four segments. Curved work is produced on two processes with different limits:

  • Flat, cylindrical and compound bending, no tooling: 1,000 mm minimum radius, to 1,500mm by 1,600 mm on the large shape line
  • Complex bending with tooling: 210mm maximum depth of bend, to 1,100mm by 1,700 mm

Those figures come from different processes, and it is worth checking which one a part needs at the engineering stage rather than after tooling.

Volumes in this market are rarely automotive scale. A production run measured in hundreds is a normal order here, and the pre-processing department is set up for short runs.

Recreational

On the field, off-road, or on the highway, Auto Temp glass products deliver the style and function buyers want. Enthusiasts can be demanding end users, and Auto Temp delivers the privacy glass, windshields, and other products needed for utilitarian, sports, or luxury vehicle applications.

  • Truck Caps

  • Motor Homes

  • ATV

  • Marine

Tempered Glass for Boat and Marine Manufacturers

Marine glazing has to survive conditions that would fail an automotive part: constant vibration, salt exposure, UV load, and hull flex that puts the glazing opening out of square while the boat is moving.

Auto Temp supplies tempered glass for boat windshields and cabin glazing to marine OEMs, made from the same float stock and on the same furnaces as its automotive work, which means the same certification framework and the same tolerances apply. Curved windshield sections are formed on the bending furnaces rather than assembled from flat panels, so the sightline stays continuous.

Two things matter to a boat builder specifically:

  • Replacement parts years into a hull's life. That is a warehousing question rather than a manufacturing one, and Auto Temp holds finished inventory for exactly this reason.
  • Reverse engineering from a physical sample. Common in marine, where original tooling records are often gone.

Glass for UTVs, ATVs, RVs and Truck Caps

Specialty and recreational vehicle manufacturers need parts built to automotive specification in volumes well below automotive scale. Auto Temp quotes both together.

Auto Temp supplies tempered glass across this segment: UTV and ATV glazing, recreational vehicle windows, and truck cap glass. Parts are made to FMVSS 205 requirements and manufactured to ANSI/SAE Z26.1, the same framework as the automotive work, because a vehicle used on public roads is held to the standard regardless of how many units are built.

One supplier handles the whole part. Cutting, edge work, drilling, silkscreen printing of borders and obscuration bands, and hardware bonding all happen in Batavia, from a standing inventory of more than 2,000 hardware applications. The glazing assembly is produced in one place.

Heavy Duty

Auto Temp serves the diverse commercial transportation industry, providing durable products that enhance the safety and comfort of the work environment for operators and drivers.

  • Class 6

  • Class 8

Mass Transit

Quality has always been our number one priority. Nowhere is that more important than in the mass transit sector, where the safety of the public and the crew is on the line every day. No other vehicles require as much glass to deliver a superior riding experience for end users.

  • Bus

  • Train

Tempered Glass for Commercial Trucks and Mass Transit

Commercial truck and transit glazing is a service problem as much as a manufacturing one. A Class 8 tractor or a transit bus stays in service far longer than a passenger car, and a vehicle off the road waiting on a window is a vehicle not earning.

Auto Temp supplies tempered glass for Class 6 and Class 8 commercial vehicles and for mass transit applications, and warehouses finished parts so service demand can be met from stock rather than from a production run. Inventory is held at a 76,000 square foot warehouse near Cincinnati and drop shipped in single unit quantities to distribution points and service locations worldwide.

For a fleet operator or a transit authority, the question is whether a part will still be available in year eight. Holding finished inventory rather than manufacturing to order every time is what makes that answer yes.

Appliances

Our glass is known for its outstanding visual properties with contours that give appliances a sleek look. Auto Temp serves leading manufacturers of appliances that are the star attractions in today’s modern kitchens or the eye-catching showcases on the retail floor.
